Forge alloys into your tools: Raisonite axe, press, terraforming

A tool, a weapon or a piece of armor holds one alloy, forged in the crafting grid; a raisonite item, made late in the game, holds up to three. An alloy changes how the item behaves: a Raisonite axe fells a whole wild tree in one blow.

In short

  • Seven alloys on the Earth. The first, Raisonite, is fired in the Furnace: 2 gold ingots and 1 raisonite shard. The six others (Nivelite, Lissite, Duracier, Celerite, Brisite, Egidite) are pressed in the hyperbaric press, on a large power cable.
  • Nine more come from the worlds of the Solar System, one per body (alloys of the worlds): 2 ingots of the body's metal and 1 titanium ingot in the press. The raisonite synthesizer turns one ingot of each body into raisonite ingots, for gear that holds three alloys.
  • To forge: put the item and one alloy in the crafting grid. You get the same item, same tier, same wear, now named “Iron axe · Raisonite”. One alloy per ordinary item; forging another replaces it. A raisonite item holds up to three.
  • Raisonite axe: fells the whole wild tree you hit. Every voxel wears the axe; if it cannot afford the whole tree it cuts nothing and tells you what is missing.
  • Nivelite flattens, Lissite smooths, Duracier lasts 3 times longer, Celerite is faster, Brisite hits 1.4 times harder, Egidite protects 1.3 times more.

What is an alloy, and how do I forge one?

An alloy is a resource you press, then forge into a tool, weapon or armor piece. It is not a new item: it is one property of the item you already own. The pickaxe, axe, shovel, chisel, shears, melee and ranged weapons (not thrown ones) and the four armor pieces can take one, as the table below shows; a raisonite item can take three.

  1. 1

    Make the alloy

The Raisonite in the Furnace, the six others and the nine alloys of the planets in the hyperbaric press (see below). Each alloy is a resource you carry in the inventory.

  2. 2

Put the item and the alloy in the grid

Open the crafting grid and place the item and one alloy anywhere in it. The result shows the same item with its alloy.

  3. 3

    Take it

The item keeps its tier and its wear. Its name gets the alloy (“Iron axe · Raisonite”), its tooltip an “Alloy” row with the effect, and its icon and its model a tint in the alloy colour.

  • One alloy per ordinary item. Forging another alloy replaces the first, which is lost. A raisonite item holds up to three: each new alloy is added, a fourth is refused. The same alloy twice is refused.
  • An alloy that does not bond with the item is refused: the grid says “This alloy does not bond with this item.” A Brisite pickaxe, for instance, does not exist.
  • The alloy is part of the item: you can store it, trade it, and the item keeps it until it is used up.

How do I make the Raisonite alloy, the first one?

  1. 1

    Find raisonite

Violet ore 35 to 110 m deep, in rare pockets of 1 to 3 cubes. Dig it with an iron pickaxe or better: any other tool takes twelve times longer.

  2. 2

    Cut a shard

16 voxels of raisonite ore in one cell of the crafting grid give 1 raisonite shard.

  3. 3

    Fire it

In the Furnace: 2 gold ingots in the input slot and 1 shard in the reducer slot give the Raisonite alloy in 10 s.

Raisonite alloy

How to get it

Furnace: 2 gold ingots in the ore slot, 1 raisonite shard in the reducer slot, 10 s. Then forge it: the tool, weapon or armor and the alloy in the crafting grid.

What it is for

Axe: fells a whole wild tree. Pickaxe: a whole ore vein. Shears: a whole canopy. Shovel: the same soil within 2 m. Weapon: 20 % of a blow splashes on enemies within 3 m. Armor: sends back 10 % of melee blows. Every item lasts 25 % longer.

Why it exists

It teaches how alloys work, early and without a press, and saves hours of chopping without breaking the game.

What is the hyperbaric press?

The hyperbaric press is a 2 × 2 × 2 m electric machine. Two hydraulic rams in a riveted steel frame drive matter to its limits, behind a thick round viewport that glows from violet to white as the pressing advances. Three input slots, one output: it runs when its inputs hold exactly one of the seven operations below.

Hyperbaric press

How to get it

At the grid: 16 steel plates, 8 titanium sheets, 4 cogwheels, 8 copper coils and 2 circuit boards. Place the 2 x 2 x 2 m press, bring it a large power cable, put each ingredient in a slot of its own.

What it is for

Duracier, Celerite, Brisite, Egidite, Nivelite and Lissite alloys; diamonds from coal ore (never profitable on purpose).

Why it exists

The owner wanted a machine of insane power: alloys are rare enough to be worth it, which makes a real power grid the price of the alloys.

How much power does it take?

  • Its power port is of the very high class: it wants a large power cable (250 kW), whatever the operation. See the power guide for cables and transformers.
  • Each operation has its own power draw, from 30 kW to 200 kW. It is all or nothing: if the network cannot give the full watts, the press waits and keeps its progress, it never presses slower.
  • Plan batteries and generators for the biggest operation, the diamond, which draws 200 kW for 15 minutes.
ResultIt takesPowerTime
Diamond256 voxels of coal ore200 kW15 min
Duracier alloy2 steel ingots + 1 titanium ingot + 16 voxels of coal40 kW60 s
Celerite alloy2 aluminium ingots + 1 lithium ingot + 1 silicon40 kW60 s

Egidite alloy2 titanium ingots + 1 gold ingot60 kW90 s
Nivelite alloy2 copper ingots + 1 iron ingot + 16 voxels of basalt30 kW60 s
Lissite alloy2 copper ingots + 16 voxels of crystal + 16 voxels of coal30 kW60 s

Is it worth pressing diamonds?

Almost never. A diamond costs 200 kW for 15 minutes: 50 kWh, five full lithium batteries, for 256 voxels of coal. A mined diamond (gem ore) is far cheaper. A rare alloy is another story: nothing else makes it. The cheap ones (Nivelite and Lissite, 30 kW for one minute, half a kWh each) cost almost nothing to press.

Which alloy does what?

AlloyToolsWeaponsArmor
RaisoniteLife ×1.25. Axe: fells a whole wild tree. Pickaxe: a whole ore vein. Shovel: all the touching soil within 2 m. Shears: a whole mass of leaves. Not the chisel.Life ×1.25. A melee blow also strikes every foe within 3 m of the target for 20 % of the blow.Life ×1.25. A full set sends 10 % of the melee damage back to the attacker.
NivelitePickaxe, shovel, axe: flattens a 5 m square, up to 3 m deep.--
LissitePickaxe, shovel: smooths within 2 m. Chisel: smooths within 1 m.--
DuracierLife ×3.Life ×3.Life ×3.
CeleriteDigs ×1.75 faster.Melee cooldown ×0.7, ranged fire interval ×0.75.Weighs half as much.
Brisite-Damage ×1.4, blows and projectiles alike.-
Egidite--Protection ×1.3 per piece; the cap of a full set goes from 80 % to 86 %.

“Life” is the tool durability counted in voxels of stone (see tools and mining). An iron pickaxe lasts 288 cubes of stone: 360 with Raisonite, 864 with Duracier. A titanium one lasts 880: 1100 with Raisonite, 2640 with Duracier. Armor and weapons get the same factors on their own durability.

How does the Raisonite axe fell a whole tree?

Hit the trunk of a wild tree, a tree the world grew by itself, with a Raisonite axe in survival. Instead of one cube, the whole tree goes in a single blow: trunk, branches and leaves.

  • Only natural trees. The game recognises the tree the world generated around the voxel you hit. Anything you built or planted yourself, planks, logs you placed, a log you put in a tree, stays where it is. A block that is not part of a wild tree breaks as a normal cube.
  • Every voxel wears the axe, bark, wood and leaves alike, each by its hardness compared with stone, as for any other break. A big tree is thousands of voxels.
  • All or nothing. If the axe cannot afford the whole tree, nothing is cut and a message tells you, for example: “Your axe would break before the tree is down: it needs 2310 and has 1840 left.” Cut a smaller tree, or forge a new axe. The axe never breaks half way.
  • The items fall stacked at the foot of the tree, one pile per kind of block, in full stacks, not scattered over the leaves.
  • In a protected zone (a claim you do not own) the whole blow is refused: “Part of it is in a protected zone: nothing was cut.”
  • Creative mode: the tree goes at once, nothing wears and nothing drops.

How do Nivelite and Lissite reshape the ground?

These two alloys make no extra item and no extra key: aim, hold the left button as usual. They use the same all-or-nothing wear as the Raisonite mass blows.

Nivelite: flatten

  • The plane is the face of the aimed cube opposite the one you hit.
  • Everything of the tool's own matter on your side of the plane goes: rock for the pickaxe, soil for the shovel, wood and leaves for the axe.
  • Zone: a 5 m × 5 m square centred on the cube, up to 3 m deep from the plane.
  • Works on a slope, a ceiling or a wall: a flat floor, a flat wall, a flat ceiling.

Lissite: smooth

  • A sphere of 2 m around the aimed cube (the chisel: 1 m).
  • Two passes: a lone bump with few neighbours is removed, a small hole with many neighbours is filled with the most common nearby matter of the tool.
  • Matter is conserved: you never fill more than you removed, and what is left drops as items.
  • Pickaxe: rock. Shovel: soil. Chisel: any matter.

Neither touches machines, prefabs, doors, liquids, bedrock or anything in a zone that is protected: a protected voxel anywhere in the area refuses the whole blow.

What do the alloys do in a fight?

  • Brisite: weapons deal 1.4 times the damage, melee and projectiles.
  • Celerite: melee cooldown ×0.7, ranged fire interval ×0.75; a Celerite armor piece weighs half as much (see weapons and armor).
  • Egidite: each piece protects 1.3 times more; the protection of a full set, capped at 80 %, can now reach 86 %.
  • Raisonite: the weapon also strikes every other hostile within 3 m of the target for 20 % of the blow; a full armor set sends 10 % of the melee damage back to the creature.
  • Duracier and Raisonite also multiply the life of weapons and armor (×3 and ×1.25).

What are the alloys of the planets?

Each body of the Solar System gives one more alloy, nine in all (alloys of the worlds). Bring back the body's metal, melt it into ingots in the Furnace, then press 2 of its ingots and 1 titanium ingot in the hyperbaric press (60 kW, 90 s). Each one has a power on armor, one on weapons and one on tools, and they matter for the final fight.

How do I put three alloys on one item?

Late in the game, the raisonite synthesizer takes one ingot of each of the nine bodies and gives four raisonite ingots in 3 minutes, with no fire and no power. Craft them in the titanium patterns into raisonite tools, weapons and armor, the strongest of the game.

  • A raisonite item holds up to three different alloys (3 alloys per item): put it and one alloy in the grid and the alloy is added; again for the second and the third. A fourth is refused, so is one it already holds.
  • The powers add up: a Lunite and Aresite pickaxe cuts a 3 × 3 tunnel 8 deep; a Jovite, Glacite and Hadesite sword strikes lightning, freezes and heals.
  • Do not confuse it with the Raisonite alloy of the Furnace, made from Earth shards: that one is an ordinary alloy, one per item.

What is Raisonite?

A violet crystal so hard it rings like a bell when struck, said to have fallen from space. On the Earth only shards are found, in rare violet pockets deep underground.

Questions

Can I put two alloys on the same tool?

On an ordinary item, no: it holds one alloy, and forging another replaces the first, which is lost. A raisonite tool, weapon or piece of armor holds up to three different alloys; a fourth is refused.

Why does my Raisonite axe cut nothing?

Either the tree is not a wild one (a block you placed breaks as a normal cube), or the axe cannot afford the whole tree: the chat says how much it needs and how much it has left. A part in a protected zone also refuses the whole blow.

Does the Raisonite axe fell the logs I placed?

No. Only the voxels the world generated for that tree are cut. What a player placed stays.

What happens if the press does not get its full power?

It waits. The pressing is all or nothing: the progress is kept and resumes when the network gives the full power.

Which cable does the press need?

A large power cable (very high class, 250 kW), even for the 30 kW operations. Use a transformer to step up from your generators.

Can I remove an alloy?

You can only replace it by forging another one over it. The first alloy is lost.

Where do I find raisonite?

Deep underground, 35 to 110 m, in rare violet pockets of 1 to 3 cubes. Bring an iron or titanium pickaxe.
