Aluminium
The light metal of boats, rockets and stations, melted from bauxite in the Furnace on a powered cable.
In the game
How to get it
Mine bauxite (cave veins, three times more under jungles and savannas), then melt 16 voxels in the Furnace powered by a cable (8 kW): 1 aluminium ingot in 15 s. On the Moon, anorthosite gives 2 ingots.
What it is for
Aluminium sheets for the electric boat, rocket tanks, cargo modules, cockpits and fairings, the docks of a space station, dishes; the Celerite alloy.
Why it exists
Aluminium needs electricity, not fire: it is the metal that proves your power grid works, and the one that lets things fly.
The same text the game shows in its progress tree and on the item's sheet (I).
Aluminium is the third metal age, after iron and steel: light, but only an electric furnace frees it.
How to get it
- Bauxite: an ore of the cave veins (2 to 48 m deep, about one ore vein in ten near the surface) and of big lodes; it is three times more common under jungles and savannas.
- The Furnace on a cable: bauxite melts only when the Furnace is powered by a cable, at 8 kW. 16 voxels of bauxite give 1 ingot in 15 s. On fire alone the Furnace waits.
- On the Moon: highland anorthosite gives 2 ingots (10 s, also on a cable): twice the yield, no lode to hunt.
What it is for
- Rolled into aluminium Sheets and plates at the Metal mill: Electric boat, Rocket tank (40 sheets), Cargo module, Rocket cockpit, Rocket fairing, Central dock (96), Secondary dock, dish antenna, ship's fuel tank and console.
- Ingots: the Celerite alloy (2 aluminium + 1 lithium + 1 silicon in the press), aluminium blocks and swords.
Why it exists
It is the reason to build real power: 8 kW is two generators, twenty solar panels or a large wind turbine.
Light aluminium, won from bauxite by electricity: sheets, wire.
