General terms of sale
This is a courtesy translation. The French version is the only legally binding one and prevails in case of difference.
Version of 12 October 2026.
During the alpha, Openworld is not yet sold individually: you get in with a free access code, or by supporting the game with a Patreon subscription, which gives you a code and perks. The rules for direct sales will apply as soon as they open. The version that applies to your order is the one displayed at the time you place it.
The essentials
- You buy access to the game Openworld for one player: price in euros, all taxes included, paid by card through Stripe.
- You have 14 days to change your mind, unless you ask to play right away: the right of withdrawal ends when your player is created or your code is used.
- The game must work as described: that is the legal guarantee of conformity, free of charge.
- During the alpha: a supporter subscription on Patreon, from €5 per month, gives you your code and perks; you can stop it whenever you like (section 14).
- A problem? contact@pascard.com.
1. The seller
Tom Pascard EI (a French sole trader, entrepreneur individuel), “Pascard”, 95 rue Alexandre Dujardin, 02810 Torcy-en-Valois, France — SIRET 881 712 939 00019 — VAT FR45 881712939 — email contact@pascard.com — phone: . Everything else: legal notice.
2. Which purchases
These terms apply to purchases that a consumer makes from Pascard:
- the direct purchase of access to the game for one player, by card, in the launcher or on the website;
- the purchase of access codes sold by Pascard, individually or in bulk (at an event, for example);
- during the alpha, the supporter subscription on Patreon, which gives you a code and perks (section 14).
A code bought from an authorized reseller is sold under that reseller's terms. A free code is not a sale. In every case, playing the game is governed by the terms of use, which you also accept. A purchase by a company or an association (codes for an event) is covered by a written agreement; failing that, these terms apply, except for the rules reserved for consumers.
3. What you buy
Access to the game Openworld for one player: the right to use the game (see the terms of use) and to play online with this player, with no time limit for as long as the online game exists. It is both digital content (the game, which the launcher downloads and updates) and a digital service (the online game and accounts).
Openworld is in development: its features on the date of your purchase are those presented on the website and in the release notes, and they change (see section 10).
What you need: a computer running macOS 11 or later, Windows or Linux, with a Vulkan-compatible graphics card; an Internet connection to play online; an Openworld account whose email is verified. Check this before buying: the game can be downloaded free of charge from the website.
4. Price
Prices are shown in euros, all taxes included, before you order. The price you pay is the one displayed at the time of your order. There are no delivery costs. Pascard may change its prices or make offers at any time, with no effect on orders already placed.
5. Ordering
- Log in to your account in the launcher (verified email).
- Choose the username of your new player: it is reserved for you for a few minutes, long enough to pay.
- Check the summary: what you are buying, the username, the price including all taxes.
- Accept these terms and ask to play right away (see section 8).
- Click the payment button, which clearly states that you are committing to pay, and pay.
The contract is concluded when the payment is accepted. You then receive a confirmation by email: your order, its price, these terms and, if you asked for it, your request to play right away. Pascard may refuse an order for a legitimate reason (payment refused, fraud, dispute in progress). For a code bought in another way (at an event), you are given the same information before you pay.
6. Payment
Payment is made by bank card when you order, through Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd., Dublin, Ireland), an authorized payment provider. Pascard never sees your card number. Your bank may ask you to authenticate (3-D Secure). For codes, other means may be offered (bank transfer, payment on site at an event).
7. Delivery
Direct purchase: your player is created as soon as the payment is accepted, and you can play. Purchased code: it is handed to you right away (by email or in person); you use it in the launcher whenever you like, before its deadline for use if there is one (stated before the purchase).
If access is not provided to you, write to us: we provide it without delay. Failing that, you may terminate the contract and be refunded, as provided by the Consumer Code.
8. Right of withdrawal
You have 14 days from your purchase to withdraw, without giving a reason and at no cost.
Exception: playing right away. The game is digital content supplied without a physical medium. When you buy, you expressly ask for access to begin before the end of this period and you acknowledge that once your player is created, you lose your right of withdrawal (article L. 221-28, 13° of the French Consumer Code). This request is made by a checkbox before you pay and appears in the confirmation email.
Purchased code not yet used: you may withdraw within 14 days; the code is then cancelled. Using it within this period counts as a request to begin right away and ends the right of withdrawal: the launcher reminds you of this beforehand.
How to do it: send contact@pascard.com a clear statement, or the form below, before the end of the period. We refund you no later than 14 days after receiving it, using the same means of payment, at no cost.
9. Legal guarantees
Pascard is liable for lack of conformity of the game, under the legal guarantee of conformity of digital content and services (articles L. 224-25-12 et seq. of the French Consumer Code):
- for the downloaded game, defects that appear within 2 years of its delivery; for the online game, supplied continuously, defects that appear throughout the whole period of supply;
- a defect that appears within the year following delivery (or during continuous supply) is presumed to have existed from the start: you do not have to prove it;
- you are entitled to having it brought into conformity, free of charge and within a reasonable time; if that is impossible, refused or late, to a price reduction, or to termination of the contract and a refund if the defect is not minor;
- Pascard provides the updates, including security updates, needed to keep the game in conformity.
The guarantee is free of charge. To use it, write to contact@pascard.com describing the problem. These guarantees are in addition to your other rights, and no clause of these terms reduces them.
10. Changes and end of the game
Pascard changes the game (new features, balance, resetting worlds during the alpha), at no cost to you. If a change reduces your access to or use of the game by more than a minor amount, we warn you in advance and you may terminate the contract within 30 days; you are then refunded as provided by law.
If we had to shut the online game down permanently, we would warn you at least 3 months before, by email and in the launcher.
If your player or your account is banned for a serious breach of the terms of use, by a reasoned decision that you can challenge, the access you bought is not refunded, unless the law decides otherwise.
11. Minors
A minor buys with the consent of a parent or legal representative. For a child under 15, the parent buys, from their own account (see the terms of use).
12. Customer service
A question, a complaint: contact@pascard.com, or by phone (number in section 1). We reply as soon as we can. Pascard keeps a record of your order (see the privacy policy) and sends it to you on request.
13. Mediation and disputes
In case of a dispute, first send Pascard a written complaint. If that does not settle it, you may use a consumer mediator, free of charge, within one year of your complaint. As no sale is open yet, Pascard will appoint its mediator before the first sale; the mediator's name and address will appear here.
These terms are governed by French law. Failing an agreement, the dispute goes before the competent courts; as a consumer, you may bring it before the court for the place where you live.
14. Supporter subscription (Patreon)
During the alpha, you can support Openworld with a monthly subscription on its Patreon page (patreon.com/cw/play_openworld), at one of the tiers offered, from €5 per month. This is not a donation: it is a purchase, which gives you the perks described below. It does not entitle you to any tax reduction.
Payment. Patreon (Patreon, Inc., San Francisco, United States) collects the payment, invoices you, adds your country's VAT and manages your Patreon account, under its own terms. Pascard never sees your card. The price of each tier is the one displayed on Patreon when you subscribe; a price change is announced on Patreon at least 30 days before it applies, and you can cancel until then.
What you get.
- An Openworld license code for one player (see section 3), available as soon as you first pay on play-openworld.com/patreon (sign in with your Patreon account) and sent by e-mail to your Patreon account's address. It stays yours when the subscription ends. If you already have a player, pick it on that same page: the perks are attached to it.
- The perks of your tier, as described on Patreon at the time of payment. Some stay yours for good (the code, the names given in the game's sky); others last as long as the subscription (the number of friends in your world through the global network, for example) and stay active until the end of the paid period. Those tied to your player turn on by themselves as soon as Patreon confirms the payment, usually within a few minutes and at the latest within 48 hours.
- Names in the sky: for each month paid, depending on your tier, you give a name to an object in Openworld's sky (a star, a planet, an asteroid…), visible to all players in the game. It is not a real star and this name has no value outside the game. Pascard may refuse or change a name that is insulting, hateful or sexual, a brand, or another person's name without their consent; you can ask at any time to change or remove yours. This feature is in development: names earned before it is released are kept for you and you choose them as soon as it is available.
Stopping. You cancel at any time from Patreon: no new payment is taken, the perks tied to the subscription stay active until the end of the paid period, and what is already yours stays. Perks already earned are never taken away from you, except in case of a ban for a serious breach (section 10).
Withdrawal. For 14 days after your first payment, you can change your mind without giving a reason: write to contact@pascard.com (or use the form). This first payment is refunded in full; the code and the perks are then withdrawn and the subscription stopped. The following months do not open a new period.
Minors. Section 11 applies; Patreon also sets its own age conditions.
Sections 9 (guarantees), 10 (changes), 12 (customer service) and 13 (disputes) also apply to the subscription. Pascard may change the tiers and their perks for the future; what is already yours does not change.
