Gold
Heavy, soft gold: circuit boards, mirrors, the first alloy, candlesticks and engraved armor.
In the game
How to get it
Gold ore lies 70 to 200 m down (and near the surface under canyons, to 60 m); one giant gold lode lies within 1.5 km of the start. 16 voxels and 4 coal in the Furnace: an ingot in 10 s.
What it is for
The Raisonite alloy (2 gold ingots and a shard), circuit boards and chips, mirrors, gold armor and sword, candlesticks, chandeliers, goblets and vases.
Why it exists
Gold does not make good weapons: it makes the first alloy and the electronics.
The same text the game shows in its progress tree and on the item's sheet (I).
Gold is soft and precious -- and essential.
Finding gold ore
- Veins 70 to 200 m down; under canyons also near the surface, down to 60 m.

- Mimics sometimes hide gold ingots.
