Diamond (ore)
A gem cut out of gem ore: chips, ring lasers and the press's abrasive. No tool, sword or armor is made of it.
In the game
How to get it
Gem ore lies 100 to 200 m down (more under mountains) and lines some geodes; one giant gem lode lies within 1.5 km of the start. 16 voxels of gem ore in the grid: one diamond.
What it is for
The biggest microcontrollers, the ring lasers of the inertial unit, the Brisite alloy at the press.
Why it exists
The diamond is a gem of technology, not of weapons: titanium is the top of tools and armor.
The same text the game shows in its progress tree and on the item's sheet (I).
The diamond is a gem.
How to get it
- Gem ore: veins 100 to 200 m down, more under mountains; a few percent of Geodes; one giant gem lode within 1.5 km of the start, under the ranges.
- Cut it in the grid: 16 voxels of gem ore = 1 diamond.
- Trolls (5 %) and mimics (8 %) sometimes drop one.
What it is for
- Chips: the 2 048-byte microcontroller needs one diamond, the 4 096-byte one two.
- The ring lasers of the inertial unit (satellites).
- The Brisite alloy, pressed round a crushed diamond: weapons hit harder.
No tool, sword or armor is made of diamond: the best of those are in Titanium.
