Copper
Copper ore smelted into ingots: wire and electricity, sheets, the copper sword and armor.
In the game
How to get it
Copper ore shows in cave walls within 48 m of the surface and in veins from 8 to 90 m (more under highlands); two giant copper lodes lie 250 to 700 m from the start. In the Furnace: 16 voxels and 4 coal give an ingot in 10 s.
What it is for
Copper wire and coils (every electric machine), copper sheets, the copper sword and armor, the spyglass and the telescope.
Why it exists
Copper carries electricity: it is the door from the iron age to the workshop.
The same text the game shows in its progress tree and on the item's sheet (I).
Copper is the second metal you will smelt.
Finding copper ore
- Cave veins: in the top 48 m about one ore in five of the cave walls is copper.
- Deep veins: from 8 to 90 m down, more often under highlands.
- Giant lodes: two near the world's start (250 to 700 m away), eight more over the planet, under mountain ranges. Ore boulders on the ground mark them.
Smelting
In the Furnace: 16 voxels of copper ore and 4 coal or charcoal: one copper ingot in 10 s.
What it is for
- At the metal mill: copper wire (cables, coils, every electric machine) and copper sheets (the spyglass, the telescope, boilers, roofs).
- The copper sword and copper armor.
- Copper blocks to build with; the copper dome of ceiling lamps.
Soft copper: armor that turns green.
