Mining & resources · Item
Shears
Leaves in a blink, wool off a living sheep, grass tufts and ferns whole.
In the game
How to get it
Two iron ingots crossed diagonally in a 2×2 square, no handle: shears. Titanium shears too; there are no wooden or stone shears.
What it is for
Cut leaves almost instantly, shear sheep (1 to 3 wool, it grows back), take grass tufts, ferns and plants whole, cut tall grass for pots.
Why it exists
A pickaxe in leaves is painfully slow on purpose: shears are the right tool.
The same text the game shows in its progress tree and on the item's sheet (I).
Shears are the tool of soft things.
Recipe
Two ingots crossed diagonally in a 2×2 square: one cell top-right, one bottom-left (or mirrored). Iron or titanium only.
What they do
- Leaves: a whole 1 m cube of leaves in less than a hundredth of a second (a wooden pickaxe needs 7 s).
- Sheep: right click a sheep that has its fleece: 1 to 3 wool, the sheep stays shorn until it has grazed about 5 minutes. See Sheep.
- Plants: grass tufts, ferns and tall grass come back whole instead of dropping seeds; two grass tufts make a voxel of tall grass for a Flower pot.
- Wool, hay and thatch blocks break fast with shears too.
Numbers
Iron: speed ×1.80 and about 288 cubes of stone of life; titanium: ×3.00 and 880. Leaves cost them almost nothing.
