How to get it
Iron ingots for the heads, in the shapes of the stone tools: pickaxe 3 ingots and 2 sticks, axe 3 and 2, shovel 1 and 2, chisel 1 and 1; shears are two ingots crossed, no handle.
What it is for
Faster digging (×1.80), about 288 cubes of stone of life; shears cut leaves at once and shear sheep; an iron pickaxe cuts raisonite ore.
Why it exists
The iron age opens everything else: the workshop, the machines, the deep ores.

What iron unlocks
- Raisonite ore (a violet crystal 35 to 110 m deep) wants an iron or titanium pickaxe: any other tool takes twelve times longer.
- Shears exist only in iron and titanium.
- Every deep ore -- gold, titanium, gems -- is within reach.
