Propellants
Liquid oxygen and one fuel (liquid methane, RP-1 or liquid hydrogen), in dewars of 1 m³, poured into the rocket.
In the game
How to get it
Make empty dewars, fill them at the gas plant (liquid oxygen, liquid methane, liquid hydrogen) or the refinery (RP-1), then pour them on the rocket screen or let a fueling tower do it.
What it is for
Every rocket burns liquid oxygen with one fuel; the ship's engines burn the same dewars.
Why it exists
A rocket burns what your industry makes: the chemistry chain is the real price of space.
The same text the game shows in its progress tree and on the item's sheet (I).
Every rocket burns liquid oxygen with one fuel. All of them travel in dewars of 1 m³.
The oxidiser
Dewar of liquid oxygen: gas plant, an empty dewar and 64 units of oxygen, or simply the air on Earth (20 s, 8 kW).
The fuels
| Propellant (with liquid oxygen) | Made | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Liquid methane | gas plant: an empty dewar + 64 units of natural gas, 12 s | the balanced choice |
| RP-1 | refinery: an empty dewar + 64 voxels of kerosene, 15 s | the densest: most in a tank |
| Liquid hydrogen | gas plant: an empty dewar + 64 units of hydrogen (or 32 voxels of water), 30 s | the most efficient engine, but 2.3 times less in a tank |
One fuel per rocket (not per tank). The rocket screen takes the dewars you drop and only gives back empties.
Pouring
- By hand: drag dewars onto the LOX and fuel cards of the rocket screen (right-click: half).
- By machine: a Fueling tower beside the pad pours one dewar every half second.
Why it exists
A methalox tank is about fifteen dewars of oxygen and eleven of methane: a rocket asks for a real chemical factory, or a long evening by hand.
