Rocket engine
The bottom of every rocket: titanium bell and chamber, turbopumps, four landing legs, lit by a fire gland.
In the game
How to get it
At the grid: 16 titanium ingots in each top corner (32), 8 copper sheets between them, 2 cogwheels on each side of 2 circuit boards, 2 tallow in each bottom corner and a fire gland between them. Right-click the ground with it.
What it is for
Lifts the rocket (up to 4 g), steers it, and lands it on its legs; everything else is stacked on it.
Why it exists
The heart of the rocket, and the reason to hunt salamanders and imps for their fire glands.
The same text the game shows in its progress tree and on the item's sheet (I).
How to make it
At the grid: 32 titanium ingots (16 in each top corner), 8 copper sheets (top middle), 4 cogwheels (2 on each side), 2 circuit boards (centre), 4 tallow (2 in each bottom corner), a fire gland (bottom middle; salamanders and imps drop it).
How it works
- 3.4 m, 1.6 t, it burns 340 kg of propellant a second at full throttle; thrust is capped at 4 g.
- Its four legs fold alone above 150 m on the way up and unfold below 700 m on the way down (G also works).
- A landing is safe at 3 m/s down and 2.5 m/s sideways at most, legs in good state; beyond 9 or 6 m/s, or tilted more than 15 degrees, the rocket breaks.
The first piece of a rocket: put it on flat ground. Bell, turbopumps and four landing legs.
