Leash
The only way to make an animal follow you: it walks 6 m behind, up to 4 at a time, and can board a rocket with you.
In the game
How to get it
Three fibres (wool, flax, cotton or string) and a binder (bone, gel or egg) in a 2×2 square. Right click a tamed or farm animal with it.
What it is for
Lead your horse home, your cows to a new pen, your dog aboard a rocket; tie them to a tree trunk with an empty-hand right click.
Why it exists
Tamed animals never follow you on their own: a leash is how you take them along.
The same text the game shows in its progress tree and on the item's sheet (I).
A leash is a braided rope that leads an animal.
Recipe
In a 2×2 square: three fibres (any of wool, flax, cotton, string) and, in the last cell, a binder (a bone, a gel or an egg). One leash.
Who takes a leash
Every tamed animal and every farm animal: Horse, Kangaroo, Bear, Behemoth, Dog, Cat, Parrot, Dragonling, Cow, Sheep, Goat, hen -- and the Moon's grazers and giant birds. A wild bear or a wild horse does not: tame it first.
How it works
- Right click the animal with the leash: it follows you, keeping within 6 m (it does not pull within 3 m).
- Lead up to 4 animals at once.
- If it falls more than 24 m behind (a teleport, a cliff), it comes back to your side.
- Tie it: with the animal on the leash, right click a tree trunk with an empty hand (any wood, within 4.5 m; never planks). Right click the tied animal to take it back.
- Take the leash off: right click the animal you lead with the leash in hand (or crouching, empty hand).
- Led animals can board a rocket with you: each habitable rocket has 4 places for players and animals.
