Animals: tame and ride
Tame a horse, a kangaroo, a bear or a behemoth, put a saddle on it and ride it.
In the game
How to get it
Horse: an apple or sugar (20 % a try). Kangaroo: wheat (25 %). Bear: honey (20 %). Behemoth: a hay bale (15 %). Then right click the tamed adult with a saddle, right click it empty-handed to mount, F to get off.
What it is for
Your movement keys drive it, sprint gallops, Space jumps (the kangaroo very high, the bear climbs a whole block). A mount has its own health and hunger: feed it with a right click.
Why it exists
Travel fast and far from the first days, on an animal you earned.
The same text the game shows in its progress tree and on the item's sheet (I).
Four animals of the Earth can be ridden. Each must first be tamed, then saddled.
1. Tame it
Hold its favourite food and right click the animal. Each feeding has a chance to tame it: hearts mean it is yours, a puff of smoke means try again.
| Animal | Where | Tamed with | Chance a try |
|---|---|---|---|
| Horse | plains, savannas | an apple or sugar | 20 % |
| Kangaroo | deserts, savannas, canyons | wheat | 25 % |
| Bear | forests, taigas, snow, mountains | honey (a bottle or a honeycomb) | 20 % |
| Behemoth | savannas, plains | a hay bale (a cubic metre of hay) | 15 % |
2. Saddle it
Make a Saddle (five hides on an iron ingot) and right click your tamed, grown-up animal with it. A baby or a wild animal ignores the saddle.
3. Ride
- Right click it with an empty hand to mount, F to get off.
- Movement keys walk, sprint gallops, Space jumps.
- Its health and hunger bars show above yours. Hunger (0 to 100) drains as it moves -- twice as fast running, three times at a gallop. At the bottom it can no longer gallop. Right click it with a food it likes: +30 hunger, and it heals.
The mounts compared

| Kangaroo | 2.5 m/s | 7.5 m/s | 12 m/s | 3.2 m | bounds, a huge jump |
| Bear | 1.8 m/s | 4.6 m/s | 6.4 m/s | 1.1 m | steps up a whole block, tough |
| Behemoth | 1.5 m/s | 3.8 m/s | 5.2 m/s | 0.9 m | a moving hill, never stopped by a step |
