Dish antenna
An aluminium dish round a mirror: aimed, its 2-degree beam carries to the satellites and to the Moon.
In the game
How to get it
At the grid: aluminium sheets in the top corners round a mirror, a coil in the centre, 3 iron ingots across the bottom. Aim it with its spyglass view, or let it track the Moon, the Earth or the strongest transmitter.
What it is for
Link a base on the Moon, receive your satellites' packets in a ground station, send far across a continent.
Why it exists
Reaching the Moon by radio takes a narrow beam and a lot of power: the dish makes it possible, and the bill (about 34 kW) makes it an achievement.
The same text the game shows in its progress tree and on the item's sheet (I).
How to get it
At the grid: 2 aluminium sheets (top corners) round a mirror, a coil (centre), 3 iron ingots across the bottom.
Aiming
- The Aim button on its sheet opens a spyglass view (zoom x1 to x32): the cone follows your gaze, left-click fixes it.
- Or track a body: the Moon or the Earth (the sky turns fast; an untracked dish loses the Moon within seconds). Below the horizon it falls silent.
- Turns toward: a receiving dish turns to the strongest transmitter on its channel, a transmitting one to the nearest receiver: what a ground station uses for satellites.
Power
Its sheet offers targets up to The Moon and The Earth and shows what it will consume: dish to dish to the Moon is about 34 kW.
