The giant bird of the Moon, 2.2 to 4.5 m of wings, soaring over the craters: tame it, saddle it, fly.

How to get it
Find it over the Moon's craters, gardens and deserts, alone or in pairs. Feed it star ferns: each try tames it 12 % of the time (about eight ferns).
What it is for
With a sky saddle, a flying mount; tamed, it sheds a lunar feather every 10 to 14 minutes; brought to the Earth by rocket, it flies anywhere.
Why it exists
Fly, at last: the Moon's bird is the main path's great reward.

Where
Over the Moon's craters, gardens and deserts; rare. Fifteen looks: five lunar palettes, three sizes. Passive (it pecks if attacked), 80 health.
Taming
Feed it star ferns (the crater gardens' plant): 12 % a try. Tamed pearlwings breed with star ferns too, and a fern heals 25 points.
Riding
Saddle it with a Sky saddle, right-click to mount: Space twice takes off, held climbs, released glides; F to dismount (in flight, twice: you jump).
Drops
Tamed, a Lunar feather every 10 to 14 minutes; killed, 1 to 3 lunar feathers and feathers.
