Survival · How it works
Food
Every food of the game: how much it fills, how long it keeps you full, and where it comes from.
In the game
How to get it
Hold a food and keep the right button pressed for about 1.5 s while you are hungry: you eat it. Cooked meat and fish are worth twice their raw form and last far longer.
What it is for
Food fills your hunger bar; while a meal keeps you full the bar does not drop at rest, and a high bar heals you.
Why it exists
What you eat matters: a cooked bear steak carries you through five minutes of work, a handful of berries barely a snack.
The same text the game shows in its progress tree and on the item's sheet (I).
Eating keeps your hunger bar up, and a high bar keeps your health coming back (see Survive).
How to eat
- Hold the food and keep the right button pressed about 1.5 s: four bites and it is gone. You can only eat when you are hungry.
- Each food gives food points and keeps you full for a while: during that time your hunger does not drop at rest (effort still costs food).
- Raw meat and fish are absorbed only by half, and keep you full for seconds. Cook them: twice the points and minutes of satiety (see Cooking).
- A bucket of Milk is drunk even when you are not hungry: 8 food points and 8 health a draught.
