Bucket

A cubic metre of one liquid: water, lava, milk, oil or wet concrete. Standing it takes a whole cube, crouching a single voxel.

In the game

How to get it

Three iron ingots in a V. Left click a liquid to scoop it, right click to pour it; standing works on the aligned 1 m cube, crouching on one voxel.

What it is for

Water for saplings, aquariums, the dye vat and the concrete mixer; lava as fuel (100 s a bucketful); milk to drink; concrete to pour.

Why it exists

Liquids are matter too: you carry them, and the world never refills what you took.

The same text the game shows in its progress tree and on the item's sheet (I).

The bucket carries 64 voxels (one cubic metre) of one liquid at a time.

Recipe

Three iron ingots in a V: one bucket.

How to use it

  • Left click a liquid: you scoop it. Right click: you pour.
  • Standing, it works on the aligned 1 m cube (up to 64 voxels); crouching, one voxel at a time.
  • Only still water (a source) can be taken, never a flow. Nothing refills by itself: a cubic metre taken from a lake is gone from it.
  • A partly filled bucket only takes more of the same liquid; its name shows the level ("Bucket of milk (75 %)").
  • On a machine with a tank, right click pours into it -- or draws from it with an empty bucket.

An empty bucket: right-click a liquid source to scoop it up (water, oil, lava), milk a cow or a goat with it, right-click again to pour it out. Full, it holds a cubic metre: 64 voxels.
