Charcoal
Wood burnt without air: fuel, the reducer that turns ore into metal, torches and black dye.
In the game
How to get it
Put logs (any wood) in the Furnace's input, nothing in the reducer: 16 voxels of logs give 16 charcoal in 4 s.
What it is for
Reducer in the Furnace (one charcoal = one voxel of coal), fuel, torches, black dye and the architect's desk pencil.
Why it exists
Wood burnt without air is the miner's coal when no coal is around.
The same text the game shows in its progress tree and on the item's sheet (I).
Charcoal turns trees into the coal you lack.
How to get it
Logs in the Furnace, the reducer slot empty: 16 voxels of logs give 16 charcoal in 4 seconds. Any wood chars.
What it is for
- Reducer: in the Furnace's reducer slot, one charcoal counts as one voxel of coal. An iron ingot asks for 4.
- Fuel: a charcoal burns like a voxel of coal (almost a second) -- five times what the wood it came from would have given.
- Torches: a charcoal on a stick gives four.
- Black dye: charcoal ground fine (see Dyes).
- The Architect's desk's pencil, gunpowder for rockets.
Wood burnt without air: a fuel that burns hot.
