Getting started · Item
Sapling
A young tree to plant: oak, birch, spruce, cherry, maple, jungle or palm.
In the game
How to get it
Leaves of any Earth tree give a sapling of their tree 3 % of the time (per quarter block broken), and you keep the leaves.
What it is for
Plant it on grass, dirt, farmland or sand with at least 1 m³ of still water within 2 m: 5 to 10 minutes later it drinks that water and grows into its tree.
Why it exists
Grow your wood next to your base instead of walking ever further for it.
The same text the game shows in its progress tree and on the item's sheet (I).
A sapling grows into the tree whose leaves dropped it.
How to get it
Break leaves: each quarter block has 3 % to drop a sapling, and the leaves come with it.
| Leaves | Sapling |
|---|---|
| Oak leaves | Oak |
| Birch leaves | Birch |
| Spruce leaves | Spruce |
| Cherry blossoms | Cherry |
| Autumn, red and yellow leaves | Maple |
| Jungle canopy leaves | Jungle |
| Palm fronds | Palm |
How to grow it
- Set it down on grass, dirt, farmland or sand.
- Put at least 1 m³ of still water (64 voxels: one full Bucket) within 2 m around it, from 1 m below to 1 m above.
- 5 to 10 minutes later the sapling drinks those 64 voxels and grows into a full tree, as big as the wild ones.
- Short of water or soil, it waits and tries again later.
- Right click it (standing) to read its state: how much water it sees and whether it will grow.
