Crafting & machines · Item
Copper wire
The game's only wire: coils, power and signal cables, light bulbs, circuit boards.
In the game
How to get it
A copper ingot in the metal mill on its Copper wire choice: 8 wires in 3 s.
What it is for
Copper coils (7 wires for 2), small and large power cables, signal cables, light bulbs, circuit boards, solar panels, antennas and most electronic devices.
Why it exists
One wire for everything keeps the recipes easy to remember; copper is plentiful near the surface so electricity is never out of reach.
The same text the game shows in its progress tree and on the item's sheet (I).
Copper wire is drawn from copper ingots and goes into nearly every electric thing.
How to get it
Smelt copper ore in the Furnace (16 voxels and 4 coal give 1 ingot in 10 s), then put the ingot in the Metal mill on Copper wire: 8 wires in 3 s.
What it is for
| Recipe | Copper wire |
|---|---|
| Copper coil (2 coils) | 7 |
| Small power cable (8, at the mill) | 4 + an insulation |
| Large power cable (4, at the mill) | 8 + 2 plastic or tar |
| Signal cable (8, at the mill) | 2 + an insulation |
| Light bulb (4) | 2 |
| Circuit board (2) | 4 |
| Solar panel | 2 |
| Omni Omni antenna | 4 |
Why it exists
There used to be wires of several metals; since the craft redesign there is only copper. The difficulty is in the quantities, not in remembering which wire goes where.
Drawn copper on a spool: electric cables and coils.
