String
Spider silk: the bow's string, the crossbow, silk fabric, coils, leashes, wingsuits and paragliders.
In the game
How to get it
Spiders drop 1 or 2 strings when they die. They live in every cave, and come out at night in forests, jungles and swamps.
What it is for
Bow (3), crossbow (2), silk fabric at the loom (2 strings a fabric), copper coils, the loom itself, fibre for leashes and sewing, wingsuits (2) and paragliders (4).
Why it exists
Some things only creatures make: the bow chain starts with a spider.
The same text the game shows in its progress tree and on the item's sheet (I).
String is the silk of spiders, and the only way to get it.
How to get it
Kill a spider: 1 or 2 strings (and sometimes venom). Spiders appear in any dark cave, and at night on the surface of forests, jungles and swamps.
What it is for
- The Bow: 3 strings and 3 sticks. The Crossbow: 2 strings.
- Silk: 2 strings at the Loom give a silk fabric -- the cloth of the Paraglider and of the best Wingsuit.
- Fibre: string is one of the four fibres (with wool, flax and cotton) used for leashes, candle wicks and sewing.
- Coils: copper wire wound round an iron core and insulated with string or wax -- every electric machine needs spiders or bees.
- The loom's own recipe takes string.
Spun by spiders: a bow's string.
