Loom
Weaves two fibres into a fabric of one of 16 patterns, coloured by the dyes you put in.
In the game
How to get it
Planks, a cogwheel, sticks and a string. Put 2 fibres of one kind (wool, flax, cotton or string), choose a pattern, add dyes if you want colours.
What it is for
Wool fabric, linen, cotton and silk -- plain, striped, tartan, floral... -- for beds, sofas, curtains, clothes and wings.
Why it exists
Every textile of the game starts on the loom.
The same text the game shows in its progress tree and on the item's sheet (I).
The loom works by treadles: no fuel. On a powered small cable it weaves four times faster.
Recipe
Planks, a cogwheel (metal mill), sticks and a String.
Weaving
- Slots: two for fibres, one for the ground dye, one for the pattern dye, one output.
- 2 fibres of one kind = 1 fabric: wool gives wool fabric, flax linen, cotton cotton fabric, string silk.
- Choose one of 16 patterns on its screen: plain, stripes, wide stripes, gingham, tartan, chevron, dots, floral, diamonds, waves, herringbone, damask, houndstooth, paisley, plaid, toile.
- An empty dye slot keeps the fibre's own white; each other colour costs one dye a fabric.
- Plain: 6 s; with a pattern: 8 s.
Weaves two threads into a fabric: choose its pattern; the ground dye and the pattern dye give its two colours (none: the thread's white).
