How to get it
At the grid: 4 iron sheets in the corners, 4 copper wires on the sides, a coil in the centre: 1 repeater. Set it where a cable reaches its span.
What it is for
Carry signal cables past 256 m and power cables past their span.
Why it exists
Every link has a reach; the repeater is a node that starts it again.

How it works
A link can only reach so far between two nodes (a signal cable 256 m, a small power cable 5 km). The repeater is a node: each kind of link crosses it and starts a new span. Over long distances an Optical fibre (10 km) is often simpler for signals.
Right-click a block to place it, facing you. Broken, it comes back whole.
