Optical fibre
Glass strands drawn from silicon: one signal (mono) or eight (octo) over 10 km without a repeater.
In the game
How to get it
At the metal mill: 1 silicon and 1 plastic give 4 mono fibres; 4 silicon and 2 plastic give 4 octo fibres. Put an optical coupler at each end.
What it is for
Carry signals from a far wind farm, a mine or a dish to the control room; bring 8 values on one line to an octo signal writer.
Why it exists
Signal cables stop at 256 m; the fibre lets a factory spread over a region.
The same text the game shows in its progress tree and on the item's sheet (I).
How to get it
| Fibre | At the metal mill | Gives | Channels |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mono | 1 silicon + 1 plastic | 4 | 1 |
| Octo | 4 silicon + 2 plastic | 4 | 8 |
How it works
- Carries signals 10 km without a repeater.
- An Optical coupler at each end turns 8 signal cables into light and back; a mono fibre uses channel 1.
- An octo Signal writer reads an octo fibre straight: 8 pens.
Right-click a block to place it, facing you. Broken, it comes back whole.
