The Sun
Lava lakes, fire tornadoes and meteors: the most hostile ground of the game, and the final fight.
In the game
How to get it
The end: from a station in the Sun's orbit, a descent through the corona to its surface world.
What it is for
Solar matter (mined before you summon the boss), the solar altar, the Solar Colossus.
Why it exists
No rocket takes off from the Sun while the boss lives: you come down to finish the game.
The same text the game shows in its progress tree and on the item's sheet (I).
The Sun has a world of its own: the hottest, most violent ground of the game.
The surface
- Crust plates over the convection cells (90 m), black-red, domed a few metres over the lava.
- Lava lanes between them in half the land, lava lakes where the ground sinks.
- Supergranule ridges 10 to 25 m tall, with spicules: spires of crust 15 to 45 m tall.
- Solar matter veins in the crust, 1.5 to 6 m under the plates.
- Gravity 1.5 g.
Dangers
| Danger | What happens | | The heat: 4200 °C over the crust, 5500 by the lava | only the Ultimate solar suit stands it | | Fire tornadoes | every 30 to 70 s one is born near you and wanders your way: fire and a fling, sometimes a Fire elemental | | Meteors | every 12 to 28 s one strikes near you: a burning streak, then the blast | | Lava | its lanes and lakes, and the Lava serpent | Over the dark regions both come half as often: the calmer ground to mine the solar matter on. Near the Solar Colossus only its own come. See Fire tornadoes and Survive: lava, fire tornadoes, meteors.
