Uranium fields
Wide fields of uranium nodules 120 to 200 m under the Earth, found with a Geiger counter.
In the game
How to get it
Walk with a Geiger counter in your hand: its crackle rises near a field and its dial tells how rich and how deep it is. One field always lies within 1.5 km of the world's start; more lie under the dry land, a few kilometres apart.
What it is for
Set an industrial drill over the field's heart: it digs a chamber there and brings up the nodules it meets, more where the field is richer. A dug-out chamber is spent for good: the next drill goes at least 16 m further.
Why it exists
Uranium is the reward of exploring and of industry, never of luck at the surface.
