Uranium ore
Green-yellow nodules scattered through deep fields, 120 to 200 m under the ground.
In the game
How to get it
Find a uranium field with a Geiger counter, then set an industrial drill on the ground over it: it bores down and brings the ore up. One field always lies within 1.5 km of the world's start, many more under the dry land.
What it is for
The centrifuge turns 16 voxels of uranium ore into one enriched uranium, the fuel of the fission reactor.
Why it exists
The atom's power is earned: uranium lies deep and scattered, too poor for a pickaxe, rich enough for a machine.
The same text the game shows in its progress tree and on the item's sheet (I).
Where it lies
- Uranium fields: 90 to 170 m wide, 120 to 200 m under the ground, small nodules of ore in a few cubic metres out of a hundred at the heart, none at the rim. No boulder marks them on the ground.
- Deep veins: a few small veins 120 to 200 m down, for a patient pickaxe.
Mining it
An industrial drill over the heart of a field brings up 16 voxels every 30 s; toward the rim, less. Its screen says how rich the field is under it and how deep its top lies.
A rare, heavy ore found very deep.
