Crafting & machines · How it works
Forging an alloy
An item and one alloy in the crafting grid: the same tool, weapon or armor comes out with the alloy's power.
In the game
How to get it
Put the item and one alloy anywhere in the crafting grid, nothing else: the same item comes out, its tier, matter and wear kept, with the alloy. A plain item holds one alloy; forging another replaces it.
What it is for
Give a tool, a weapon or a piece of armor a power: fell whole trees, last three times longer, dig faster, hit harder, protect more, flatten or smooth the land.
Why it exists
Alloys play the part of enchantments, but they are made by industry: the Furnace for the first, then a 200 kW press.
The same text the game shows in its progress tree and on the item's sheet (I).
An alloy is one property forged into an item you wear or hold.
How to forge
- Put the item (a tool, a weapon other than a thrown one, or a piece of armor) and one unit of alloy anywhere in the crafting grid, nothing else. The same item comes out with the alloy; its tier, matter and wear are kept.
- A plain item holds one alloy: forging another one replaces it.
- The grid refuses an alloy that does not bond with that item (Brisite in a pickaxe) or one it already holds.
- The item's name shows it ("Iron axe · Raisonite"), its tooltip has an Alloy line, its head or blade takes the alloy's tint.
The alloys of the Earth
| Alloy | Made in | Bonds with | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Raisonite alloy | the Furnace | tools (not the chisel), weapons, armor | whole tree, vein, canopy; splash; reflect; wear x1.25 |
| Duracier | the press | tools, weapons, armor | lasts 3 times longer |
| Celerite | the press | tools, weapons, armor | digs x1.75, strikes and shoots faster, armor half as heavy |
| Brisite | the press | weapons | damage x1.4 |
| Egidite | the press | armor | protection x1.3 |
| Nivelite | the press | pickaxe, shovel, axe | flattens a 5 m square |
| Lissite | the press | pickaxe, shovel, chisel | smooths the ground |
Why it exists
Handy powers that change how you play, earned through the industry rather than found: the Raisonite comes early and stays modest; the others ask for a Hyperbaric press and a real Power grid.
