Wheat seeds

Seeds for your first field: one seed sows a whole square metre of farmland.

T1First days · Main path

In the game

How to get it

Break grass tufts, tall grass and ferns: wheat seeds 5 % of the time. Wild wheat gives its own seeds, and every ripe wheat crop gives 1 or 2 back.

What it is for

Sow them on farmland tilled with a shovel; hens breed on seeds and parrots are tamed with them.

Why it exists

A field starts with a handful of seeds.

The same text the game shows in its progress tree and on the item's sheet (I).

Wheat seeds start every farm.

How to get it

  • Break grass tufts, tall grass and ferns: 5 % of them drop wheat seeds (with shears you get the plant instead).
  • Wild wheat of the plains and savannas: one roll per 4 tufts gives a wheat and a seed.
  • A ripe crop gives 1 to 3 wheat, 1 or 2 seeds and a straw; an unripe one gives its seed back.

How to use it

  • Right click grass or bare soil with a shovel: the aligned square metre becomes farmland (Tilled field).
  • Right click the farmland with one seed: the whole square metre is sown.
  • The crop grows in four stages, each after 2 to 4 minutes, even while nobody is near.

Other uses

  • Hens breed on seeds (any seeds: wheat, flax, cotton or carnivorous).
  • Parrots are tamed with seeds or berries.

Flax and cotton have their own seeds: see Flax and Cotton.

Sow them on farmland: wheat grows.
