Tar
Black, sticky and waterproof: asphalt for roads, insulation for cables, and fuel.
In the game
How to get it
A quarter block of bitumen (16 voxels) alone at the grid gives 2 tar; the refinery gives one with each run of fractions.
What it is for
Asphalt (gravel, sand and tar: 32 voxels of road), the large power cable (2 tar for 4) and the insulation of small cables; it burns in a furnace.
Why it exists
Tar is the oil you can have before any refinery: bitumen seeps give it with a pickaxe.
The same text the game shows in its progress tree and on the item's sheet (I).
How to get it
- Bitumen: dig a quarter block (16 voxels) of the black bitumen that seeps above oil, and put it alone in the grid: 2 tar.
- Refinery: each run of fractions gives 1 tar.
What it is for
- Asphalt: gravel, sand and tar give 32 voxels of asphalt, for roads.
- Cables: 2 tar (or plastic) and 8 copper wires make 4 large power cables at the Metal mill; tar is also an insulation for small power and signal cables.
- Fuel: it burns in a furnace.
Black and sticky, from oil or wood: asphalt, waterproofing.
