Field pump
Turned by a shaft, it draws water, oil, lava, milk or kerosene from 9 x 9 m and 32 m under it into its pipes.
In the game
How to get it
At the grid: tallow in the top corners round a cogwheel (the impeller), 2 iron sheets on each side of a hide (the valve), a small pipe at the bottom. Place it on the ground, drive it with a shaft (best at 30 turns a minute) and run a pipe from it.
What it is for
Empty an oil lens into the refinery, feed water to the gas plant and the mixer, drain a flooded mine.
Why it exists
It counts the liquid in its reach and keeps pumping it even when its land is not loaded: a real well, not a bucket.
The same text the game shows in its progress tree and on the item's sheet (I).
How to make it
At the grid: tallow in the top corners round a cogwheel, 2 iron sheets on each side of a hide, a small pipe bottom middle.
How it works
- It needs a Shaft turning it: up to 1.5 kW, at its best at 30 turns a minute (a third less efficient per doubling away from it). An electric motor turns 120: slow it with Gear wheels.
- It pumps what you choose on its sheet (water, oil, lava, milk or kerosene) in a 9 x 9 m square down to 32 m under it.
- It measures the liquid in reach and pumps that amount even when the land is unloaded; the level drops when the land is loaded again.
- Its pressure carries 20 m along its line; beyond, booster pumps.
- Pumps do nothing on the Moon.
