A worn logbook found in a crate of a colonists' base on Mars: who the colonists were, and why they left.
In the game
How to get it
Walk into an abandoned colonists' base on Mars (at your ship's navigation table, click the landmark chip until it reads Colony base: the shuttle sets you down beside the nearest one). The logbook is yours, once.
What it is for
Read it with I: the first colonists' story, the drones they left behind, and where they went next.
Why it exists
The planets have a past: the colonists came before you, and their trail leads to the far reaches.

The logbook
- Day 1. The domes hold. The greenhouse is planted, and the drones keep the dust off the panels.
- Day 212. A violet shard came down with the meteors over the canyon. Raisonite: it grows nowhere on Mars. Where does it come from?
- Day 405. The storms last for weeks now. The drones no longer answer us: they guard the base against everyone.
- Day 431. We are leaving. The shards point outward, past the asteroids. We take the last methane and go to fill up on Saturn's moon, then on to the end of the Solar System. Whoever reads this: follow us.
