Getting started

Your progress and the in-game wiki

The game always tells you what to do next. Your inventory shows where you stand on the progress path; a click opens the whole path; I on any item opens its page of the wiki.

In short

  • Open your inventory (E): without opening anything else you see a part of the progress path, your main-path percentage and the advised next step.
  • Click it for the progress screen: one horizontal path from your first log, the main path in gold, the side quests on their own lanes, every step showing its items.
  • Click a step for its tutorial: how to get it, what it is for, why it exists. Its sub-actions are listed there: counted in your progress, never in your way.
  • I on any item, anywhere, opens its wiki page. The texts are the same as on this website, which says a little more: see the progress path.
On this page

What does the inventory show about my progress?

  • Beside your bag, a small window on the progress path: the steps around you, the ones done ticked, the next one glowing.
  • Your percentage of the main path, the one that leads to the end of the game. Side quests do not lower it.
  • The advised next step, with the first line of its tutorial, so you never wonder what to do.
  • A click opens the big progress screen on that step.

How do I read the progress screen?

  • One path, left to right. It starts with the first log and goes through the iron age, the workshop and the sky. Branches leave from junctions (shields) and come back to them.
  • The main path is gold. It is what you need to finish the game. The other branches are side quests: travel, a decorated house, advanced electronics, satellites, rockets on Earth, nuclear energy… The game suggests one from time to time, but always points you back to the main path.
  • A step shows its items. A step is one item, or a group of items you need all of; a goal (a medallion) is a thing to do, like a furnished house or a rocket ready to fly.
  • Some steps wait for others. The alloys lane, for instance, pauses until your other branches have caught up: a dotted line says what it waits for.
  • Each branch has a big animated picture of what it unlocks, with a short caption: a horse at the gallop, a paraglider, the rocket, the giant bird of the Moon that lets you fly anywhere.

What happens when I click a step?

  • Its tutorial: how to get it, what it is for and why it exists. It is the same text as the item's page in the wiki and on this website.
  • Its sub-actions: things worth doing around that step (gather flint and berries, tame a horse, open the recipe book…). They count in your percentage but you never need them to go on.
  • Steps tick themselves: when you hold the item, or the moment you do the action (taming, landing, building). Nothing to declare.

How do I open the wiki on an item?

  1. 1

    Point at the item

In your inventory, a chest, a machine, the crafting grid, the recipe book, or in your hand with the inventory closed.

  2. 2

    Press I

Its wiki page opens: the tutorial, where it comes from (recipes, machines, creatures, deposits), what it is for, and the step of the path it belongs to.

  3. 3

    Follow the chain

Click an ingredient to open its own page, and go on until you reach something you can pick up with your hands. Right click goes back.

Questions

Where is the wiki button?

There is none any more: press I on an item to open its wiki page, and click the progress window of your inventory for the whole path.

Do side quests count in my percentage?

The percentage shown is the main path's, the one that leads to the end of the game. Side quests and sub-actions are counted in their own branches and never lower it.

Why does a step stay open after I made the item?

A step is done when you hold its item (or every item of its group), or when you do its action. Hold the item once in your bar or bag.
