Space · How it works
Set foot on the burning ground
Under Venus's clouds: 465 °C, 92 atmospheres, acid rain and living volcanoes. Prove your gear is ready.
In the game
How to get it
Go down through the acid cloud deck (300 to 380 m) to the ground under 300 m, in the brass pressure suit: nothing else stands the weight and the heat there. Stand on the ground.
What it is for
Prove your gear is ready, and reach what lives there: the basalt golems, the sulfur of the volcanoes, the lava lakes.
Why it exists
The hardest ground before the Sun.
The same text the game shows in its progress tree and on the item's sheet (I).
How to get it
Go down through the acid cloud deck (300 to 380 m) to the ground under 300 m, in the Brass pressure suit: nothing else stands the weight and the heat there. Stand on the ground.
What you find
- Basalt plains: baked ochre crust broken into plates, dark basalt flows, low wrinkle ridges.
- Tesserae: folded highlands, ridges crossing like woven tiles.
- Lava fields around shield volcanoes with lava lakes in their calderas, glowing flows, obsidian, sulfur in lenses.
- Flat-topped domes and raised rings (coronae) on the plains.
Dangers
| Floor | Altitude | Air | Pressure | Acid |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The ground | under 300 m | 380 to 465 °C | 92 to 2 atm | acid rain |
| The cloud deck | 300 to 380 m | 350 down to 60 °C | 2 to 1 atm | acid |
| Above the clouds | over 380 m | about 22 °C | 1 atm | none |
The space suit stands 120 °C and 3 atm; the brass pressure suit 500 °C and 120 atm and stops most of the acid. Each armour piece forged with cytherite stands 40 °C more.
