Large microcontroller
OWL-8 chips of 2 048 and 4 096 bytes: one chip for a whole production line, a game or a screen full of pictures.
In the game
How to get it
At the grid: 2 048 bytes = 32 silicon, 16 circuit boards round a diamond, 4 gold, 4 epoxy; 4 096 bytes = 64 silicon, 32 circuit boards, 8 gold, 2 diamonds and 8 epoxy.
What it is for
Long programs and much data: a factory's whole logic, a network switch, games and images on a screen.
Why it exists
A big factory soon needs memory, and memory is the dearest thing in electronics.
The same text the game shows in its progress tree and on the item's sheet (I).
| Memory | Silicon | Circuit boards | Gold | Diamonds | Epoxy |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 048 bytes | 32 | 16 | 4 | 1 | 4 |
| 4 096 bytes | 64 | 32 | 8 | 2 | 8 |
They work like every OWL-8 microcontroller (8 inputs, 8 outputs, 20 instructions a second); only the memory grows. Power: 2 W plus 1 W per 256 bytes (18 W for 4 096 bytes).
