Lead salamander
Bathes in the molten lakes of Mercury's day side and charges whoever comes near in broad daylight; at night it sleeps. It drops hermesite beads.
In the game
How to get it
On Mercury's day side, on the shores of its molten lakes (molten metal within 6 m), in daylight; alone or in pairs.
What it is for
Killed, it drops 1 or 2 hermesite beads (three times in five) and scales: a little hermesite before the thermal crucible.
Why it exists
A danger of the day side: cross it at night, while the salamanders sleep, or be ready for their charge.
The same text the game shows in its progress tree and on the item's sheet (I).
How it behaves
- By day it hunts any player in Survival it sees or hears; from 4 to 12 m, when the way is straight, it charges at more than twice its running speed and lands the charge as a bite.
- At night it sleeps where it lies; hit it and it wakes up angry.
- Molten metal, lava and fire do not hurt it. A placed light keeps it away, like every monster.
How to farm it
It only appears by daylight within 6 m of molten metal: a mob farm on a lake's shore of the day side -- a platform it comes to, a drop shaft, a grid under it -- gathers its beads while the thermal crucible skims the lake. Molten metal and fire do not hurt it: the fall must do the work.
