Space · How it works
Molten metal pools
Crater floors of Mercury holding pools of metal: white-hot liquid in the day, a dull frozen crust at night.
In the game
How to get it
Find a crater of 50 to 300 m between 60 degrees north and south: one in three holds a pool. It melts when the Sun climbs over 2 degrees, freezes when it sets.
What it is for
Molten metal by the bucket, or its crust to mine; the thermal crucible skims the hermesite out of it. It burns like lava: never step in.
Why it exists
Mercury is the planet of metal, cooked by the Sun.
