Space · How it works
The shuttle: land, then back up
In a planet's orbit a docked rocket goes down to dry, flat ground and comes back up to the ship: the game flies it.
In the game
How to get it
At the navigation table press Land on the planet (the last landing ground, or the day side): whoever stands by you comes along, suited. On the ground right-click the rocket and press Fly up.
What it is for
Walk on Mars, Venus, Mercury, Europa, Titan, Miranda, Triton and Pluto. The rocket needs the fuel down and up: its light says so; a methane plant refuels it on Mars and Titan.
Why it exists
Landing on another world should be a joy, not a crash.
The same text the game shows in its progress tree and on the item's sheet (I).
Why it exists
Landing on another world should be a joy, not a crash. On the planets the game always flies the rockets: none lifts off by hand from their ground, none leaves a ship's dock round them.
Fuel down and up
| World | Down | Up |
|---|---|---|
| Mars | 0.7 km/s | 2.0 km/s |
| Venus | 1.1 km/s | 3.8 km/s |
| Mercury | 1.4 km/s | 1.4 km/s |
| Europa | 0.7 km/s | 0.8 km/s |
| Titan | 0.5 km/s | 1.3 km/s |
| Miranda, Triton, Pluto | 0.3 to 0.6 km/s | 0.3 to 0.6 km/s |
The Sun has no shuttle: its descent is the end of the game.
